Save Little Middleton - A community campaign
Little Middleton is a historic community, but it seems that history will not be allowed to stand still and villages like ours are under threat.
In 2016 the UK Government invited councils to put forward proposals for new towns and garden cities throughout England. In 2017 Middleton County Council announced it was submitting a bid to create Middleton Garden City, a nrew town comprising the Middleton Valley villages and Middleton Town.
Meetings were held to discuss these, but in the typical way that villages like ours are overlooked, these were held in Middleton Town in the evening. The lack of good bus services after 6.30 meant we were denied a voice. We would like to know where is the justice in that? Sadly Middleton County Council don't seem to want to answer that, or the other questions we have to ask. What are they covering up? What don't they want us to know?
We want to save our village, and we want you to help us.
There are lots of ways to do this on our Volunteers page and we also have meetings where local dramatics company NoLogoProductions will be presenting our struggle and giving a voice to our side of the argument. These meeting will be taking place in Buxton and Edinburgh We ask anybody who cares about democracy to come along and see the shows.
